I have been drawing and painting all of my life. Of all the mediums I've used to create with, I find drybrush watercolor best suits my needs in getting the picture in my mind, on the paper. Years of studying the works of Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, Andrew Wyeth and lately, Stephen Scott Young, has influenced my work considerably.
I paint from the ground up. By this I mean that once the beginning washes of watercolor are in place, I slowly add texture using the drybrush method. Building and weaving and immersing myself in the thing, and "holding back" at the same time, until the time is right.
