I'm back

Mon Feb 19, 2007, 5:32 PM
I've been in hibernation for the past year or so, but I've been very busy. If you're familar with watercolors and egg tempera, then you know that it's a time consuming process....and when you're an artist, the moods that inspire you to paint come and go. But I promise that when I disappear on you, I will not disappoint you upon my return. So please enjoy the most recent deviations that I posted today. 8 in all.
And as always, thank you for your loyality.

About the artist:

I have been drawing and painting all of my life. Of all the mediums I've used to create with, I find drybrush watercolor best suits my needs in getting the picture in my mind, on the paper. Years of studying the works of Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, Andrew Wyeth and lately, Stephen Scott Young, has influenced my work considerably.

I paint from the ground up. By this I mean that once the beginning washes of watercolor are in place, I slowly add texture using the drybrush method. Building and weaving and immersing myself in the thing, and “holding back" at the same time, until the time is right.

I consider myself a highly sensitive romantic and that, I feel, goes into my work... but with an edge, and sometimes with a hidden or double meaning. A combination of feelings and emotions of the things I've seen and felt in my life.

Hey, I saw your work on Painters. I saw the resemblence to Andrew Wyeth's work immediatly- and going through your gallery, I can even see some of his motifs, like the threshold in Shell room and boats in Low Tide... Good paintings and good gallery. :)

Amazing gallery, you have a well tuned skill. I'm wondering though, do you use goache or masking fluid for your works at all?
